At Appletree we are extremely proud of our staff. We have excellent staff retention and many of our ladies have been with us for years – some since we first opened 30 years ago!
We follow a thorough recruitment process to ensure that we employ the best candidates, and we encourage all staff to take part in regular training and development. All staff are DBS checked, hold Paediatric First Aid certificates and undertake annual Safeguarding training. Staff also take relevant NVQ qualifications, certificates in Food Safety as well as specialising in SEND, Behaviour Management, Promoting Health & Hygiene and any other areas which will be of benefit to themselves and Appletree.

The Appletree Team
The Appletree team consists of Managers and Childcare Practitioners. The Managers take care of the day to day running of the nursery, breakfast, after school and holiday clubs so that the practitioners can focus on providing the best care for our children. Appletree Managers also work with the children, at lunchtimes, covering meetings, when going out on walks etc so that they know the children and the children know them too.
Each room has a Room Leader who supervises the implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage, and ensures the delivery of a welcoming, secure, stimulating and inclusive environment.
All staff in our nursery are key workers. They each have a small number of children who they know well, and these are the people you can talk to about any concerns or ask for advice, and they will keep you informed about all aspects of your childs learning and development. You can talk to your child’s key worker or room leader at any time in nursery or through their Care Diary on ‘Tapestry’.
We have a:
- SENCO and several members of staff who are also trained and have experience to support her.
- Health & Safety team to ensure your children are safe at Appletree at all times.
- Safeguarding Lead and deputies to ensure health, welfare and protection of children at Appletree
